Socks
Anxious: ten minutes before the job interview
Navy suit, CV printed three times and a foot tapping on its own. Luckily, someone knows how to lighten the mood.

9:50 am. The interview is at 10. Andrea got here at 9:15, just in case. Navy suit, CV printed in three copies and the line “I see myself in a growth position in five years” on repeat in his head since last night.
The other candidates look perfectly calm. One reads the paper, one smiles at her phone. Andrea's foot, on the other hand, is tapping away on its own, like a drummer at a concert only he can hear.
His trousers ride up a little and the receptionist notices the sock: green stripes, like a tiny cardigan, with a red label. Ansioso, Italian for “anxious”. She smiles and brings him a glass of water. “Relax, the manager is nice. And her socks are worse than yours.”
Andrea laughs. For the first time since last night, he breathes. The interview goes well, so well that at the end the manager asks where he got those socks. He's not sure if it's a test. He answers anyway.
Ansioso is one of the IRONIKS socks we give to people we love: an ironic way of saying “I get it” before an exam, an interview or a first day.
